ABOUT ME

I am Anastasya Poetri and I am currently on my way to live my dream. I wanted to become a songwriter since I was 12. By then, the only musical training that I received were piano lessons. I’ve always liked to sing for fun, but it was never something I would consider as a serious thing to pursue. When I wrote my first song, I was in love, and I knew that I wanted to do it for the rest of my life. I want to reach out to people, and I want to resonate with people through my music.

Early of 2016,  I was greeted by an unfortunate news regarding my health. I was diagnosed with a stage 1c ovarian cancer and was told that I was going to miss half of my sophomore year of high school. I was devastated for sure, thinking that I was going to die. I decided to make the best out of it, so I made a mini album consisting of seven songs to tackle common mental illness and relationship problems. I wrote songs regarding a broken home, depression, anger issues, lack of self-confidence, and many more. I remembered that writing those songs is a coping mechanism for me, and encourages me to fight for my health. I was cancer free after three months of chemotherapy, and I promised myself that I was going to write songs to reach people. I want to tell them stories that is inspired by the things that happened in my life, and I want them to resonate with me. Hopefully, if they are going through the same thing that I was going through, my songs can help reassure my listeners that everything is going to be okay.
